Default new Electronic Travel Autorisation for Kenya

    Hi out there

Can anybody explain for me if I need this new eTA although I have an EAC visa in my passport coming from Ruanda, Uganda and now entering Kenya?

Does the eTA replace the visa or to I need it in addition to my visa?

This is the website to apply for the eTA: https://www.etakenya.go.ke/en

    Thanks a lot

    Ulla

I think you won’t need an eTA as you already have an EAC visa. The eTA system has only just been set up and there will, inevitably, be some overlap and/or teething problems.

By the way, this forum relies on people doing trip reports or doing some sort of follow-up on a question posted. We look forward to hearing about your travels and how you found your entry into Kenya with an EAC visa.

    Hello

We are now in Kenya and could use our EAC visa that we got for Ruanda.

As the Kenyan embassy in Germany states on its website all issued visas are valid until they expire.

The eTA system seems to be only for new applications.

    All
The new ETA is now required for anyone that doesn't have a visa otherwise.

Even for those visa exempt countries in the past now need to apply through the portal for an ETA. This includes South Africa, etc. but the EAC countries are still exempt for I think 5 months and then they will revise that.

$32 per entry - note that each time you enter Kenya you need to apply, there is no multiple entry options.

It takes 72 hours. We are currently in Tanzania and obtained our eTA before we left Kenya for our return. There is an option to do two people in one application.

Just a heads up for those travelling to Kenya with an eTA. Take a print out with you!
