Advice needed

Good Morning All,

I recently changed my turbo on my 2018 renault Sandero 900T expression as it had completely warned down the fan blades in the turbo, After changing the turbo i have a issue where the car idles low and sometimes the engines cuts out. When we ran diagnostics it was giving a error on the Downstream 02 sensor and a intermittent error on the cam shaft offset sensor. We changed the 02 sensor for a new one and cleaned all the sensors. When we ran diagnostics again no errors came up however my car now idles low. I have changed the oil, the air filter, spark plugs and oil filter. im not sure what the problem could be as there are no errors reported on the diagnostics.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Just prior to turbo replacement.
Did it idle normally?
Did the turbo fail suddenly and completely?
Did you have your turbo reconditioned or was it a new one?
Which blades were worn, exhaust or compressor side?
If reconditioned the turbo repairer should have been able to identify the cause of failure by inspection.
How many km’s on the clock?
Cat might be getting blocked.

Prior to turbo replacement the idling was low but it wasnt as low as it is now, The turbo failed completely i think when driving i would suddenly hear like a splash noise and at the same time the car would slack off and then immediately regain power. The turbo was a new one as the mechanic advised that when the old turbo was removed upon inspection the blades on the compressor side were completely worn down. the car at the moment has 175k km on the clock

I presume it boosts normally now except for the idle issue.
Did the mechanic do a diagnostic check before he made the decision to change the turbo?

Yes the turbo boosts perfectly now, when i can the car mobile, the diagnostics pointed to the faulty turbo. When i got home yesterday my wife told me that the check engine light came on and is now battling to start.

Check diagnostics. The ECU is what controls the boost and that all depends on all other sensors on the engine are giving information within preset specs. If the readings sent to the ECU are out of limits the engine will go into limp mode. Limp mode = no boost.
Without a diagnostic check it is just wild guessing.
I have an OBD wifi plug which gives the diagnostics on an app on my iPhone.
Engine light(malfunction indicator light)only tells you that the ECU is not happy with something. You have to interrogate its memory.

Thank you, Im busy waiting for the mechanic to go around today to run diagnostics, i know there is a error because when i tried to crank the engine last night i heard an audible buzzing. Just sucks that i have paid to fix something and then something els goes on top of that.

[Update] - Mechanic checked diagnostics he said there is no errors coming up, so he is taking the car for 2 days to properly go through it to find the fault because he says there is definitely something wrong somewhere

Turbo blades dont "wear", something caused that damage, and whatever it was it probably found its way (along with bits of the compressor) into the engine. Sorry but you may be dealing with more damage than just a turbo. I'd suggest a compression test.

So i replaced the turbo and the problem persists , i sent it to a bosch service centre who did a compression test and the compression is 100% fine, With no where els to turn i sent it to the dealership who said the variable cam timing is off which indicates the timing chain has jumped a tooth, they have quoted 12k for the repairs looks like im going to have to bite the bullet and pay the 12k if i want my car running again

Morning All,

Something very weired, so last week on my way home i suddenly lost power in 4th gear it was like i had taken my foot off the accelerator i had to gear up to 5th to carry on driving, now that problem is sparadic and still persists today, however when my turbo was first installed i could hear it spooling up and boosting i could even hear the turbo spinning up in low rpm not anymore now it only boosts after 3000RPM and i can just barely hear it spinning up , now my idling has returned to normal but i have no power.

One conclusion is for some reason the car has gone into LIMP mode but i am not sure.

Any suggestions?
