Default ZD30 injector pump successful conversion to mechanical (QD32/TD27)

    Hi There

Injector pump failed on my Hardbody ZD30. Not taking a chance with another electronic pump.

There's a workshop here in Durban that claims they've already done several successfully using the QD32/TD27 pumps.

They also claim no sacrifice in power, and even better fuel consumption. Which seems too good to be true.

They get a machine gear made to fit.

Charge is R14500 for the job.

    Thoughts/advice chaps?

Seems they're the only ones doing it here. And searching these forums hasn't shown anyone else doing it commercially (Just found one thread with a guy retrofitting a Toyota pump successfully).

I fully appreciate why you want to do it.

But I'm allergic to people who make claims that seem to good to be true, and this seems like one of those to me.

I would definitely ask them for references, and go and speak to those customers, possibly even see if one will take you for a drive in a converted vehicle.

I could probably live with it if the claims of same power and better economy aren't strictly true if I was happy that the coversion would be reliable.

Yes I did, and it does include the pump. It better, at that price!

    Thanks Peter.

Will certainly aim to get those references first now. And go for a test drive. He claims no come backs but let's see.

This was the thread with the chap converting to a Toyota pump. And seems it was successful. Whether it remained so is another story:
