Hi guys,I did a recent trip to Kosi Bay after my excursion to Mapungubwe. I thought I should share my experience.
What an amazing stay at Kosi Bay! Discovered some new nice lodges like King Fisher and Casitas with great food.
Lots of rain this December, which made for some interesting dirt road driving. Roads were quite corrugated (ended up breaking one of the locking-mechanisms on the drawer system to Bhanga Nek).
4x4 Route Bhanga Nek, Black Rock and Lala Nek:
We first visited Bhanga Nek, which is great for turtles later in the day. We did a quick stop and took the dune road to Black Rock. Bush were a bit overgrown but a very nice 4x4 drive to Black Rock! A few lekker dunes to test your 4x4 driving skills.
Black-Rock were great for swimming and snorkeling. Quite busy though. Make sure your get your permit the day before. Annoying car guards(seems sketch) and no lekker braai facilities though. A pity I forgot to bring my fold up braaier.
We then continued to Lala Nek for lunch. The road were less challenging than above, but a great deal of fun! Had a very lekker braai there, but again had to be vigilant for those car guards at the facility. 4x4ing back from parking lot up the hill may present a bit of a challenge to some. Guy before me took a few attempts to get-up the hill.
I recommend you make use of a local guide that join in for the day to provide you with some nice scenic and adventurous roads to the various beaches and watch after your 4x4 while you go for a swim. Contact Casitas if you want them to organise a guide for the day.

Lastly, I do recommend going for a boat cruise! Great snorkeling experience.
Cheers,

we went to Kosi bay a few years ago, and the car guards were so annoying we ended up going back home a day early .. demanding money and being drunk up in your face etc.. pity though
