    Default 4x4 training

I am from Canada but doing an overland trip in Namibia/Botswana /zambia and Zimbabwe in May 2024 with a SA friend. Does anyone know of any basic ONLINE 4x4 training courses I could possibly do prior to my trip?

You cannot do online offroad training. Book a proper 1 on 1 training day with a decent trainer

This is the best advice you can give. The best would be best for you to arrive a few days before the trip starts and do a course with a certified instructor.

There is a lot of guys on YouTube with good informative videos, it will give you lots of theoretical knowledge for a good foundation before you come over.

It can never replace a practical 4x4 course but it will give you lots of insight.

I know a lot of people on the forum will crucify me, but get hold of this ASPW publication and read it!

Then watch all the video's recommended above and book a 1 day 4x4 course upon arrival.

If all fails, try and hook up with an accredited tour guide for a self drive safari.

    Suggest you google
    arivealive.co.za
    select show menu
    go to vehicles
    then select 4x4

there will find a wealth of information on 4x4 driving written by Andre Botha A complete theory of off road driving suggest you read/study it and then also do a 4x4 course as suggested
You should also be able to download the above information

    It's all freely available

Unlike some of the posters above, I feel one can learn a lot by reading.

But not all of it. Please back up your on-line learning with some practical experience in a controlled environment.
