Hi Folks!
I thought it would be cool to post about the mountain trail at Sable Ranch just outside Hekpoort.
We drove up with a Ford Everest and an old VW Touareg. Regular all-terrains deflated to 1.7 bar and 4-Low with rear Diff-lock engaged.
The scenery is great and the sandstone path is challenging in a technical sense, especially with sharp rocks sticking out the sides of the path. Two other friends tagged along to help as spotters. We took it slow, it took us about 2 hours to get up the mountain, but it always takes a bit longer with 2 vehicles.
It was also fun to play around the training track at the bottom, I got stuck on "mount everest" and bottomed out at the breakover.
Can anyone recommend other routes with similar mountain climbs? Other than John Rock, since I did that on Tuesday as well.
I remember seeing you guys when we were hiking.
When I went in the wildtrak ripped 2x side walls more to do with the std AT tyres rocks can be hectic and they need better signage
Did it again with my uncle as spotter.
Him having 30 years of serious offroading experience makes one hell of a difference!
Last time it took us (mainly thanks to the touareg, but still) about 5 hours to complete the entire trail.
This time we klapped it in less than 2 hours up and down!
Played a lot in the mud afterwards ar the "playground"
When I enquired today. They said it was closed for construction and will open again later in the year. I'll give it some time and ask again to hear when the track is open again.
