    Default Fireside treats

    Ek weet nie van julle nie, maar ek hou baie daarvan om langs 'n vuurtjie te sit. Maar dan vorm die vuurtjie kole nes iemand begin kla hulle is lus vir 'n ietsies lekker. Dit voel soos mors om nie die vuurtjie te gebruik nie. Dan eindig ek op met iets in of oor die kole. Of op 'n stokkie. Of in 'n jaffle pan. Of in 'n foelietjie.

    Hier is 'n paar idees. Die ou het 'n verstommende kapasiteit vir suiker. Ek doen dinge ietwat anders. Patat in foelie ja, maar sit die ekstras nader aan die einde by.

    Ek maak ook self die malvalekkers, so sny dit gewoonlik vir wat ek in gedagte het. Lang dunnes of wat ook al.

    'n Rolletjie winkeldeeg as jy nie self wil maak nie met ietsies tussen in geknyp is vinnig en maklik.

    Hunting season is my muse for fireside treats!

    Every hunter has to have a chance to do something for the group. I usually make some kasegriller from venison (kudu) and add pork belly to the mix.

    So the pork belly skin is removed and kept for a fireside treat.

    The pork skin is cleaned from all fat and meat end then boiled till soft. Placed in the sun to dry (put a net over).

    Cut the skin to chip size portions and heat some oil in a small 3 leg pot. Put skin pieces in hot oil and stir until brown - remove and season with braai salt or spice.

    Be carefull not to chew your fingers....!

    Ons land het sy probleme maar ons eet darem nogsteeds lekker. Ek dink nie daars n ander land in die wereld wat n vleisie op die vuur kan maak soos ons klomp nie.

    Skaapstertjies. My dogter vrek daaroor. Vir haar 16 verjaarsdag kon sy enige plek kies om te gaan eet, en sy wou net skaapstertjies en pap he van Turn n Tender. Ek braai hulle ook so nou en dan as my slagter het. Kook hom eers so uur, dan bbq sous of sommer net sout en braai.
