    Just remember that if it was a baboon, you will also see the front paw track which is very human (child) like.

    And, the Spotted neck otter, which occurs along the EC, has claws.

    I cannot find one picture of a springhaas track, either on the net, or in my books, but, looking at pictures of their hind feet, this could very well be it, the size of the track could just be exaggerated by the soft mud, making its foot splay a bit?

    Problem here is to little info
    it's not a very clear track and older
    Only one track per pic
    No front track?
    No gate, isn't there a line of tracks in the mud?
    No scat, if it keeps coming there must be some somewhere
    No context bar that it's in mud
    So it's all just guesswork and I'd hate to see a spring hare or otter with feet that big
    There is no such thing as sanity only varying degrees of insanity

    I still think the soft sand causes the large track appearance. Front tracks will be very helpfull!

    Unfortunately the kand is being prepared for planting so everything has been flattened. I am sure I will pick up new spoor soon.
