@Reenen sal baie graag wil weet wats die rede Reenen? Is 2stroke maar nie net nog 2stroke nie? Op n tyd het die ou duitser hier op die forum weer gese dit MOET Sasol sn wees aangesien dit nie glo swael of as veroorsaak nie ..

I think even betwen Sasol and Caltex etc there is different brands of 2SO and one should be super careful of what you buy.

The 2SO for my Lawnmover at Game is R50 for 500ml
and the 2SO for my KTM bike is R1600 for 3l....

just saying....general 2SO comments need a lot of background clarifying as there is a wide range of quality between these two extremes

Look at the Material Data Sheet for any additive you add to your fuel.
Most of them are mostly cetane boosters and volatile products similar to acetone or benzine.

I don't use them.
On my Gen1 Di-D I had a very sensitive aircraft quality EGT gauge and it showed significant increases in EGT when using these brand name additives - that's when I stopped using it.

During the long 2SO debate, it became clear that the JASO FC rating is the best. It is a "low-ash" oil. This means it doesn't leave carbon deposits, and actually removes carbon build-up from the combustion chamber components. There was also anecdotal evidence presented that claimed carbon build-up was also removed from turbos.
The famous "SASOL" report showed that the 2SO doesn't really help with lubrication when used in uncontaminated diesel. One has to believe that it will help lubricate if diesel is cut with paraffin.
2SO is also loaded with Zn, which is a base metal and definitely not good for the environment.

I cant even remember the quantities, but it is small amounts added to the tank.

After 100km all I can say is that something in the Fortuner has awakened. Previously the car was sluggish to respond unless I used Power mode (and I did so frequently). Now it is much more responsive without need for the P button. Hell I got massive wheel spin in second gear.

My economy has suffered because now that the car wants to go I want to go

As per previous posts I've had success in keeping my engines clean using Liqui Moly and Techron (verified by indi when he did head gasket on Jeep).

I will keep on using the super diesel additive every 3 or so months and the bakkie cleaner once a year. For the first time since owning the car I am actually looking forward to driving it

I used injector cleaner probably 5 times in consecutive tanks and did not see or feel any difference. I would suggest that you change your fuel filter before putting it in your tank. If you had dirty injectors, it may help but only with carbon. Any sand/rust based dirt will not be affected. So I think it is probably worth a try if you have a problem before you cough for the pros to fix it.

Likely not the most scientific way of testing but this is my injector balance before and after Liqui Moly fuel system cleaner. 1000 is the target value. Seems to have made a difference.

He did though very briefly, mention the possibility of coolant loss (due to corrosion of the coolant feed?). Such as the case with Amaroks.

I am reading up now and there are definitely downsides, but seems negligible on new age diesel engines. Would rather keep any warranty questions at bay for now.

Fortuner definitely benefitted form it. My comment are earlier in thread.

As for EGR delete I understand the thinking behind it but from what I gather (especially on Toyota) the EGR works to reduce EGT. So overall it has benefits. I will opt for a removal and intake clean at some stage.

My Isuzu developed an occasional diesel knock just under 2000rpm. Could be due to diesel with parrafin or just age and mileage.
Liqui Moly diesel Purge was recommended to me by a mechanic friend.
This past weekend I did the exersize. I was not a fan of additives but I can say this stuff works.
Its a bit more work than just chucking it into the tank but well worth it.
One has to bypass the diesel feed from the filter to return to the tank en then put the feed and return pipes in the can and run the engine through different rev ranges.
I did about half a can and then chucked the rest into the tank.
The knock is gone and the engine is up on power and runs much smoother. Will give feedback on cunsumption soon.

Ek gaan die ook begin gebruik. So een kannetjie elke 3 maande en dan eenkeer n jaar die Diesel purge.
Liqui Moly het n motor oil saver wat ook blykbaar baie goed werk.
