My understanding is that according to Art. 4 no.5 an approved e- visa is still needed. But that it now is free of charge.

Yes, approval letter is necessary, return ticket, YF vaccination certificate. No hotel reservation, no bank account statement. We got the letter within few hours, not three working days.

Angola implemented a visa-free regime for Russian tourists starting from September 29th. The decree was signed by the President of the Republic and has already taken effect, as confirmed by Russian Ambassador to the country, Vladimir Tararov.

I wonder if nationals included in above decree are now able to choose any port of entry or if we still have to choose one of the 3 current posts Santa Clara, Calai and Katwitwi.
It would be great to not only save on visa fees but also on unnecessary mileage and fuel. The real bonus at least for us would be to be able to enter at Ruacana ... as South African nationals can.

I received the diário de república yesterday while I was in virei and was gonna post it up today. It is good news for all. It’s still early days, and in my experience, even when something is law, it hasn’t always been put into practice at the more remote border posts. So some immigration authorities may yet be in the loop.

It is good you can choose from 3 now. Few month ago it was only Santa Clara. I also prefer the small borders where are no fixers and other "helpers". But I do not mind to go through Santa Clara. Ruacana is good especially when combined with Epupa falls which are almost dry this time of the year.

So we will exit Etosha through King Nehale gate and explore the area around for the first time. Shopping and camping in Ondangwa before the border. Not too bad.

I am sure you can use Ruacana on exit if it suits you.

    Aha - thank you.

The Angolan Consulate accredited to Colombia (in Brazil) has a website which is somewhat impenetrable : )

I had not seen this site previously - it seems to be for consulates in Africa and Europe however may work for us.

Are there any reports from travellers who enterd Angola by land from Namibia and who did so on with the new visa exemption?
Which borders were you able to do so?
    thanks!
