    Default Biker Road Warnings

This weekend I had a trip to Mpumalanga. Specifically, the escarpment area.

Travelling these roads and also encountering many bikers doing the same thing, I thought it could be a good idea if there was some way of getting info on road conditions, ahead of time to help plan your ride.

    So I will start:

The N4 towards Nelspruit and back-

Fine almost all the way, apart from some road works after the Belfast turnoff, with the lanes being tarred separately causing a ridge/ elevation difference (quite high) between the two lanes... (Not lekker) and some potholes on the going east side near Schoemanskloof.

The R43 to White River, from Nelspruit and back -

No problems at all, apart from being quite busy always. Very nice ride

The R537 from White River to Sabie -

Apart from the first 2 km that is very bumpy it is pothole less, and smooth. Was clear of traffic on my ride, apart from the few bikers I overtook... And those crazy guys on the KTM's that overtook me.

The R37 from Sabie to Lydenburg -

Fantastic, smooth, pothole free, widish and well marked.. (beware the tightening radius curves on Longtom)

    The R36 towards Orighstadt -

This is a pothole invested crappy road, full of overloaded bakkies and wandering animals- Be very careful

The R533 from the R36, past Pilgrim'srest towards Graskop -

This road is full of potholes, but they can be spotted from far. There is work being done here, so should improve. This is not a fast road, and quite bumpy, but it is a very nice ride.

    The R533 and R535 towards Hazyview -

The R533 from Graskop to the R535 turnoff is worn, but still pothole free, with some nice bends, but, after getting onto the R353 towards Hazyview, all bets are off with potholes and very deep one's at that, everywhere. Quite dangerous as the firs portion is fine and then just as you round the bend there is a massive hole across the road.. (I would try and avoid this specific road)

The R40 Hazyview to White River -

Wow, what a road.. Apart from the R37 to Lydenburg, this was my favorite 18min of the day.

White river to Hazyview is lekker road even with a car. Have they fixed the washed away piece of road just north of klipkoppie dam?

I did not see anything that I would deem washed away coming from Hazyview.

Then it has been repaired. One lane north from white river to Hazyview was completely washed away for about 40 meters. You would have noticed if it was still there.

The R400 or "satellite road" from the R563 (Krugersdorp) towards Broederstroom, there are some very deep potholes in only one area, just before the curve before Stone Hound Lodge coming from the "Skottels"
