Default Park fees - Kenya Wildlife Services

    All
just a note for those that are not following KWS or related websites. All park fees for KWS managed reserves, etc. now need to be paid through the e-citizen portal and can't be paid at the gate with Mpesa or credit cards anymore.

Yes, I’ve heard it’s a real pain, but works once you have registered on e-citizen. It’s for National Parks and Marine Reserves.

It does not apply to national reserves such as the Maasai Mara or Samburu, Shaba, Buffalo Springs - which are reserves administered by their respective county councils.

    HI WW
Yes - this is only for KWS reserves and parks. All other that are managed by counties are not included. We paid at the gate for the Mara Triangle.

    Cheers

Interesting - I do not see the booking fee that was previously required for special campsites.

I see a once off fee of $75?

What is great for South African and other African travellers is the creation of the "rest of africa" cluster - will make a big difference for those of us travelling in the weak Rand

What are the chances of Uganda and Tanzania following suit?

I agree with Webster. I see the booking fee for special campsites on the tariff document.

It irks me a lot, as Kenyan born and bred - but not a citizen - that I will need to continue to pay the international rate. However, conservation costs a lot of money.

But be aware - be very aware - if any of you Saffers complain, I will be down on you like a ton of bricks…

Ah, I see it now. Wishful thinking I suppose!

    Hi Wazungu,

I’m in Kenya on a G Class Visa and get resident rates, not international rates? Don’t you have a ‘resident’ card, I show mine and have never been charged International?

    Apologies all

The parkfees structure for KWS was changed again....

    https://www.kws.go.ke/content/park-f...KhNHJjA4Rd1VDI

The one amendment was that "Kenya Residents" are now classified under "Rest of Africa" and converted to USD instead of KSH.

Not good news for tourism in Kenya.

Fairly large increases but for overlanders like many on this forum the cost of entering the parks constitutes a fairly minor part of the overall cost and certainly wouldn't be a deterent to me.
