Ok, I thought it was time to post some pictures of Smylie (Reg number starts with SMY. )

Bought Smylie from Fatboy a few months ago.

    Smylie is kitted out with;
    • Steel front bumper
    • Safari snorkel
    • 3" Calmini suspension lift
    • 63mm S/S exhaust
    • Manual front lockers
    • OME shocks
    • SAC chip & loop
    • Dune Bash Plate
    • Hankook M/T's 265/70/16
    • The breather pipes for the diff, gearbox (I think) & transfer case (I think) have been extended to the engine bay.
I added a 4t winch and sidesteps 76mm diameter @ 2mm thick. The sidesteps are next on my agenda to be converted to rock sliders. I need them to be finished by the 14th of May for our day trip to Berakah. I also replaced all the bolts that hold the front bumper with M12 HT metric fine bolts just incase the winch wants to remove the bumper from the vehicle in a recovery.

After the canopy and the sidesteps/rock sliders are finished I will start with the back bumper. I have a design in my head that will take me another month or two to complete as the design is pretty complicated (for me).

I'm also finishing of my canvas canopy that I have been working on for the past month. I should be finished the week after Easter. I picked up a Front Runner Slim Line roof rack today for R 2,500.00 that will be mounted on top of the canopy in this week (I hope).

    Here are some pictures.

Wet gravel road, illegal dumping in the middle of the road, dark conditions, etc.......

Yes, error in judgement, but wrong place wrong time was exponential in what happened. The furrow in the tall grass on the left hand side of the road was so deep, it basically destroyed my rockslider, so it was like doing a #4 obstacle @ 40km/h.

I had absolutely no warning, and no control.

Just some progress with the canopy.

I had to cover it quickly as we needed it for De Wildt in the wet (dam that was nice) and then the weekend after that was Easter weekend and I needed it for the trip to the coast. I will have to remove the cover again and do some modifications which SHOULD be the final product. Then it is just to kit it out and colour code the aluminum strips.

I also fitted the Hi-Lift jack points in the back so now I can carry my Hi-Lift jack with me.

Next I have a week to convert the side steps to rock sliders for our Berakah trip. Dam that is not much time After that it is the back bumper
