    Default International GTG - Pomona - 11th Aug 2009

    Hi All,

We are putting together a GTG on Tuesday 11th August 2009 where we will be hosting MikeAG from the UK.

The venue will be the same one we use for our (far from) normal Gauteng East GTG in Pomona.

There are two things we are looking for at the moment, the first being a little venison to braai for Mike and the second is some transport from the Randburg area to the GTG & back.

The venue is arranging a whiskey tasting event for ther GTG by the same people who hosted the brandy tasting last month.

Please start RSVPing here so that we can get ideas of numbers etc and lets see if we can get a few more "out-of-town" members to come visit.

I have a spare room that an out-of-town member/couple can "shack up" in and enough space to park a trailer/tent in the back garden

If I'm not in convoy I might need a blonde-proof map from some kind person in Gauteng, nearer the time, so I can find the venue. I am the reigning world champion map-mangler- no sense of direction at all, especially in Gauteng!
I'm not exactly sure but I believe it is.

This is now where you start digging out more people to bring through for the event

Looking for place to sleep over, Pomona is VREK far from the Westrand!

what time does pasport control close to get back out of the BOEREWORS GORDYN?

Count me in, provisional. with all the projects up in Africa my schedule is not really my own, but will try to plan around 11th Aug.

1st Boeing goes over THERE at 00:01, but that may be a little early to warm up for the braai.

was thinking a more decent time..........lets say 00:10 or so.

    Just to update everyone..........

I have received an invitation from Malcolm van Coller to stay with him on the night of the 11th, and we are all hugely grateful. You people really are so very generous. Malcolm has headed off for a few weeks, so I am not sure if all the transport issues are sorted.

I know people were thinking about transporting us from the Backpacker's Ritz. That is no longer necessary due to Malcolm's hospitality.

Are you guys really planning a whiskey tasting on a Tuesday evening? With work the following day!!!

Thanks again for all this.......we are really looking forward to it and to meeting all you guys. (OK, we have to put up with your braaing, but life's tough!)

We can start this anytime durng the day, just, it's a work day for most people, we normally get the fires sorted and ready by about 7.00 / 7:30pm, can be a bit earlier this time I think.

Pub is open all day, Jaques & Adriaan can testify to this.

We are moving the usual August Gauteng East GTG from the 6th to the 11th so there will be a reasonable group, am aiming for 60 people.

Std catering applies, braaipaks (steak, wors & chop) are R50, also laid on are salads (for Uys), pap & sous & rolls.

Sean, we are quite flexible, the day before would be the latest I presume as long as we don't have a drastic change in numbers.
