    Default Cargo drawer

So we have been working on a drawer system that can work on vehicles with canopies and open loadbins.

Dimensions to fit onto double cabs and carry 6x ammo boxes. Runs on bearings and 3mm tubing. Made out of steel, no wood and carpet.

The top is made of 2mm mild steel with reinforcing beams welded underneath to carry 300+ kg on top. Drawer should be able to handle 80kg when fully extended or up to 300kg 50% extended. There will be stops that can be adjusted according to your load.

It has a rubber seal on the drawer front to keep water and dust out. Ammo boxes should be able to be used without lids for easy access to contents as there should be no water or dust ingress.

We are making final adjustments to sizes and found some other small structural changes then we will update on the final product.

This prototype got very good reaction at the Kyknet ekspo last weekend from both overlanders and contractors. Drawer is lockable.

Prototype painted in stonechip for testing purposes only. Final finish will be powder coated sides and a surprise coating on top.

    Give us your thoughts please.

Aiming for a retail price of R15k delivered.

I really like it, and think the price is good.

Will you have "wings/panels" on the sides to cover the area between the drawer and the edge of the load bin, in front of and behind the wheel arches, to make a continuous bed?

Yes we will have that as an extra. Just working out the last gremlins. Then we can measure each vehicle to fit the panels.

The drawer should for every Bakkie except the 70 series cruiser. They have the least space between the wheel arches of all.

Wow! Looks awesome. When you’re in town, can I drop off the triton by you?

What do the side pockets from the wheel arch look like? And is it a DIY install (for morons like me)?

Haven't design them yet as the final dimensions of the drawer is changing slightly.

But the drawer will be shipped fully assembled. And the side covers will be bolt on.

The design I have in mind will be straight forward as everything only fits one way. So you will bolt "wings" onto the side and then the top cover onto the wings.

We also do custom drawers. We had quite a lot of requests regarding custom drawers for SUVs. So if you need something that is not freely available, send me a rough drawing and dimensions.

Looks really great and price is reasonable as well, should sell well.

Only suggestion I got is to make sure there is enough clearance around the ammo boxes, so that they can be easily removed without pinching your fingers, nor having to drop them in place when loading.

Exactly why the dimensions are changing! They fit snug as a bug but getting them out or undoing the latches is a pita. However the plan is to not use lids and have easy access to everything. As it will keep dust and water out.

What will a basic robust cargo slide cost that is the full size of the loadbin?

I've seen one that is very basic, floor is diamond mesh sheet and sides have bar rails about 10cm high to strap en secure stuff - lock pin only for max in & max out.

Would be nice to get such a budget option as the fancy stuff from the 4x4 shops is eyewatering and much too fancy with all the aluminum and fancy bolt on stuff.

Still want to use the bakkie as a bakkie without canopy, but a cargo slider would be nice when the tonneau cover is on without drawers and stuff.

I had this request at the show as well. So we are currently working on a simple design. Pricing to be released once the design is complete. But I am aiming for R7k. Depending on the final finishing.

Should anyone be interested, please send me a PM or give me a call.

We loaded 500kg+ on the drawer today. Each bucket full of rubble weighs about 35kg. We had 15 buckets on the drawer top and it held up very well.

I was thinking of changing the design for the top but after this test it will remain as it is.
