The Prado has always had the rear swing door & factory long range fuel tank. With the spare underneath we probably lucky if it's 100L.

One up side is now, there is no argument: a Prado is a landcruiser
Expect a lot of aftermarket accessories coming from the States and Aus. Looking at some of the YouTube videos show that the wheel arches are large by comparison. I would expect a swing door option to get the spare out from under the vehicle to be one of them.

I reckon in N. Amercan market its aimed at replacing the Toyota 4 Runner. Body lines, chassis frame, new engine etc. The 4 Runner is an old, but still much desired model.

The 4 Runner has a cult following in the US similar to the cult following of the Land Cruiser, a decision like this would in all fairness take away from both icons.

From what I have read is that the Toyota Sequoia, based also on the same platform as the LC 300 and Tundra will takeover from the LC 300 (discontinued in the US) as the flagship Toyota model. This "Land Cruiser" will have no designation of series in the US, but will be the only model of LC sold and slot in above the 4Runner and below the Sequoia.

Toyota has really made a effort to retain and build on their "fanbase" nameplates similar to what the Bronco and Defender has done. It's not a new strategy, but I for one am glad Toyota is recognizing it, and acting on it.

Iím not sure about a new 4 runner here. If you read this speculation it seems the (very) old 4Runner design is loosing market position and the speculated replacement sounds a lot like the new Prado! https://www.motortrend.com/news/2025...thing-we-know/

Well, one could look at the LX600 as the "flagship" land cruiser for the Americans. Of course the sequoia is always more enhanced space-wise to compete against the Cadillac Escalades etc, but is usually lower in the luxury food chain compared to the LX.

True. The Prado or whatever they call its equivalent in america would render the 4-runner pointless.

Nice. Although the marketing boys forgot it, long term Prado owners still whistle the song "everything keeps going right....". Watch. Another winner.

That looks brilliant! Looks like it had a Defender as a father and the mother was an FJ!

Isn't the new Lexus a V6 twin turbo like the Lc300?

I really like the looks of the new Prado. Were not very fond of the set pill shape of the previous model. Would like to see one in flesh.
