Sorry but that is ridiculous. Taking advantage of the segment purchasing the vehicle. There are people not earning R8000 a month - for what admin fee - the favor you are doing them of relieving them of a +million rand stock? License and reg - I shiver - Chassis seal R6000? Is that to cover a factory defect? Rubber boot mat R3500? Non negotiable?

I am glad I am not nearly in the league to buy such, and even if I was, I would laugh in their face for that. Some years ago I considered buying a new Chery, but the way they loaded the deal (not to mention the proposed finance) left me speechless, for I am not used to such blatant attempts to justify bloating the cost of an already expensive item... asset is not the word. Why is black roof and grille, towbar etc non negotiable? Total bull.

as per my original review, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. In spite of all the challenges of getting these vehicles released by TSA, my salesman kept me constantly updated. They were extremely frustrated by the delays that are really out of their control. The release of this model has been a shambles to say the least.

I never got the arrogance and/or take it or leave it attitude from them. I also did not get the whole long waiting list blah blah BS either. That really grates my onions when they throw that phrase around.

It will be fascinating to see the engine bay of the Lexus GX550. Essentially the same car but with a 260kW 3.4L twin-turbo V6 and additional luxuries. I believe it will require significantly more cooling compared to the 2.8L version.

I poked my head under the bonnet last night, you must see the size of the gap between the front fender/bumper/grill and the radiator! You could fit another engine in there! Unfortunately, it does not look like there is space for a second/aux battery... in spite of the gap above. Maybe some clever person will be able to move components around to make space. The amount of electrical gadgetry in that engine bay is astounding/scary

May try. Thought it might have been CMH Toyota Umhlanga who were terrible when I dealt with them regarding a LC 200 some years ago.

But will stick with McCarthy Toyota Durban North. They have always been good to me regarding vehicles and servicing.

See now why can't the prado get that engine? I could learn to live with the FJ/American square styling if it had a leka petrol engine in it.

The Lexus is a near 3xact copy of the Prado running gear with luxuries and the petrol Engine.

Why would it not be a contender if you really want the petrol engine.

I personally like that it comes with the 2.8. Tried, tested reliable. And it's not slow, just don't compare it with the RR sdv8 or the LC300 3.3d.
