Question Grand Vitara 3.2 V6 Vibrating

    Hi guys,

Hoping some of the more knowledgeable GV experts on here can give me some advice.

I have a 2010 GV 3.2L V6 with around 253k km on it at this stage.
Recently it's developed a nasty vibration at exactly 50km/h which goes away at 60km/h - it's crazy how close to those speeds it start/stops.
I should note that's not GPS speed - just the speedo.

The car does not vibrate when coasting - only under acceleration.

I have had a front diff leak which turned out to be from a worn seal which the mechanic believes was caused by 'n worn yoke. For now he's placed the seal slightly differently to minimize contact with the worn part.

Almost the whole frontend has recently been redone - control arms, struts, mounts, tie rod ends, etc.
The strut mounts had to be done twice in the past 6 months for...reaons I'll get into on another post - but mentioning it here so you have all the information.

My feeling is that it could be the drive shaft, but I don't have much experience with this kind of issue.

Any advice on where to begin? Anybody have similar issues before?

    Thanks in advance.

if the mechanic hasnt replaced the worn yoke then theres your problem

disconnect and remove the entire front propshaft and go for a quick test drive - if vibration is gone, theres the issue

you can also pop the vehicle on a lift, get it airborne and drive it the affected speeds and confirm the vibration is there, then pull the front propshaft out and repeat

the road speed will equate to a shaft rpm the vibration is probbaly present at other speeds but the rubber mounts absorb it

Hi, had almost the same problem.
Gearbox and transfer case mountings. Solved mine. And driving for wile like this messed up a bearing on the propshaft as well.
    Regards.

    Thanks, guys.

Got it up on a lift and ran it with the wheels in the air which showed that my propshaft was moving all over the place (i.e. not balanced).
Took it to a diff and gearbox mechanic who let me know that the CVs are shot and the shaft needs balancing - R9100 for that.
I suspect the vibration has been there for a while in a lesser manner and is likely why I've had to replace the diff seals recently.

Love the car, but she's getting pricey in her old age.
