We are booked to camp first weekend of December, but have a mate that has just come back from a week camping.
His response when I asked how it's looking: "The usual, still rough, but manageable, a lot of power points are buggered and you need to share them amongst the sites"
So the way I read it is that the ablutions are not really better than they have been in the past year or so, ie. #####, shower and get out. The water will still be very brown and you are still better off being self sufficient than relying on their electricity.

I thought I read your mail wrong - R1 000?! I actually had to check on their site.
I assume it is supply & demand (and I know it gets quite full in holiday season & long weekends) and it is obviously beautiful nature, etc, but that is a lot of money for the state that facility is in.

As per our booking, campsite is R720/day with a max of 6 people per site

Good morning, just read the posts above about the rates!
They seem to vary dramatically...
My campsite booking is for end of September (4 nights)
2 adults.
Total accommodation cost is R1360
Interesting...
We paid a flying visit, not camping, in March and the ablutions were new and spotless, the water was running clear (we wouldn't have drunk it but it looked fine for showering). It was full and nobody looked like they were having a bad time. I'll go back sometime, for sure.
They were still building the new water storage up the road near the entrance, so maybe that's got something to do with current water quality, if that's a real issue.
