    Default OEM bully behaviour

Today I visited the Kia Roodepoort branch to get a quote on brake pads for my 2021 Sorento. Upon receiving the quote I ask the salesman for the part number. He tells me that customers are not allowed to have the part number. Needless to say I was instantly p1553d off! I then made him call the manager who then (with a very arrogant attitude) asked what I needed it for. I told him that I wanted to check if the price was reasonable. Again he refused to give the the info. I then informed him that I will lay a complaint at the MIO. On my way to the door he shouts at me (in a passive aggressive manner) to "have a nice day".

    1. All this idiot achieved was to loose me as a client to their business for good.
    2. I immediately loged a complaint to the motor industry ombudsman.

In all fairness as a customer who bought an expensive vehicle from them am I not entitled to have information on it for spares? I am in the financial industry and I am obligated to provide clients all information on the products they purchase from me. Does this not apply to other industries?

By trying to withhold information like this they are deliberately applying anti-competitive tactics.

As far as I am aware the law has been passed that allows a person to have their vehicle serviced at an independent provider without affecting the warranty? Not that I would do this while it's still under a service plan anyway.

FWIW, give Kia Centurion a call. Their service is top-notch and has been like that for years. I'm sure they'll assist you.
Those individuals you dealt with seem like proper clowns - phone the dealer principal and inform him/her as well?

    A) Part number not on the Quote ? Other dealers I used to deal with, the Part description and number usually appeared on the Quote.

    B) Why not just ask Midas/Autozone for a price on brakes pads for a <Insert Make and Model of Vehicle here> like the rest of us do. They'll look up whatever they need to in their Catalogs/PC's.

Had a good chuckle at you laying a complaint at the MIO. Really would like to know if anything ever comes of that.

They deliberately don't put it on the quote the manager even pointed it out!

I came right at Goldwagen down the road, no effort.

Maybe I should have just left Kia and said nothing, but the attitude from some of these big group business just stink and they should b called out for it.

Die kicker is die manager by Kia wou my 15% afslag gee, so nog steeds R1000 duurder en dis sonder fitment. Hy kan die 15% in sy gat druk!

Take my MIL's Picanto to Kia Paarden Eiland.

Refuse to service without changing overpriced cabin filter.
Now I am already there and have taken a morning to drop car off .

    Fine. Proceed.
But, they have lost 3 services since that one.

Hooly also add this on hellopeter

So that more people are aware of what they do
And maybe email Kia's head office and advise them on what happened

KIA SA might not be as happy about how the branch and its manager treated you
But if it is their policy they will inform you and then you can add that here and on hello peter

Checking on hello peter I see Kia Roodepoort is already working on their reputation

This is not about the brand, but a specific agent.
There are bad agents for ALL the brands.
In this thread good Kia agents were mentioned.
