I got everything right except the name on the first try this morning. I am battling with the English names. Got the name on the last try / guess.

Edit - Birdpro does not have that call at all but Roberts does have it, heard in Babanango. Okes from the bundu are always different 😏

That call is very common around Hoedspruit area.

Weirdly enough you would find slight variations in their calls, season upon season. Almost like the males were trying to differentiate themselves from the rest of the males.

The call was a giveaway. Had the name first round. But the habitat and size put me off. I would have thought it's small.

Also I hear this bird in the bushveld, not at home. I actually call it the bosvoël because the call is synonymous with the bushveld.

And I got the feet wrong, thought because it spends a lot of time on the ground looking for seeds it might be the other one.
