Good day all.
I am considering purchasing a 2014 4motion Auto Amarok with about 180 000 km on the clock, it has full service history with agents.
I have no real experience with Amarok's (family of Ford fans) so need some advise please.
1. How reliable are these bakkies?
2. any major concerns / issues I should look at when viewing the vehicle?
3. what possible maintenance issues could I expect soon at this mileage?
4. any other personal experience or opinions will be appreciated.
Thanks.

they are reliable if looked after, check EGR, belts and i will service the gearbox at ZF and drain all fluids, good to go then. i never had issue on my 3x 2.0 (2x manual and 1x auto) V6 i had to replace thermostat under warranty. i cant think of anything else, shocks, brakes etc u just have to check as those are maintenance items anyway.
good luck

Colleague of mine has the 90kw one with 360k km on, full service history, only problem till now was a wire that chaffed through, no other issues, no oil use, still as fuel efficient as when new.

My 2013 4motion is on 172k km. It gets driven hard, but not abused. I bought it with about 40k km on the clock in 2017. Some niggles over the years were related to the EGR system. The cooler failed early on, and I had it replaced under warranty. Recently I had it completely blanked off and reprogrammed, when the valve got stuck. I also had some A/C issues, which were resolved quite cheaply. The only other problem I've had, were door locks failing. I must have had a bad batch of locks on my bakkie, because I've had to replace two already. Oh, I recently also redid the tie-rod ends, as there was some play developing. Nothing else mechanical has been an issue, and I have never been stuck, either at the side of the road, or in my garage.
Minor wear items which I need to attend to next year include a small pin-prick hole in the gear lever gaiter and a collapsed seat bolster on the drivers seat. That said, the seats still look like new and the leather is in perfect condition.
I get in, turn the key and go. It is a totally unassuming vehicle, with no pretentions or airs. It just gets on with whatever you need it to do.
In extra-urban 80 km/h traffic, it is quite frugal, but it gets a bit dors north of 120km/h. When you go fast, the little melkbotteltjie has to work hard.
As things are, I'll probably look to replacing it at around 200k km, and I'm sure it will be going as strong then, as it is now.
I know it's a bit late, but I'll chime in anyway.
I bought my 90kw 4Motion 2 years ago with 210k on the clock. 30k later and I've had to replace the gasket on one of the EGR pipes. Cost was in the pennies. Had a small boost leak as well and the passenger door decided to stop locking for half a day.
Other than that, it's been an absolute dream to own and I'm not scared to take it to far away places. In fact, we just returned from a 5000km trip without a single niggle
