    Default Kasumbalesa Border crossing issues!

“Good afternoon, We are doing a small contract job in DRC. We came through Kasumbalesa border with our vehicle but were told that we must pay USD4000 deposit to use the vehicle while we are in the DRC. We ended up leaving the vehicle on the Zambian side after paying all sorts of fees because we entered DRC post and returned back to the Zambian side. We paid runners to carry our equipment across and caught a taxi to site. It appears that the deposit is new thing, something to do with people crossing and selling their vehicles in DRC?? Once returning back to Zambia, the deposit will be refunded, however we also heard that trying to get the deposit back is virtually impossible. Has anyone had the same experience, or knows of this new regulation?”

Thanks for sharing. Would a CdP help? It's not required, but in theory (yes, I know....) should allow temporary use of the vehicle.
