    Thanks Reece!

Would have been great to see a pic. I did a basic image search on Google and it looks like the canopy sticks out quite a bit on the sides, as well as above the roofline. No issues with wind noise/ drag? Did you fit any of their accessories?

They are the only manufacturer that makes a canopy, roof top tent and awning - this is appealing. Also like their kitchen unit.

It compliments the cruisers lines quite well actually.

Wind noise is not an issue as far as i can tell, but have racks front and back so can't give you an honest answer re canopy only.

No other accessories fitted, I use the cruiser for carting farm katunda around, so need as much space as possible in the back, thus no kitchen units etc.

He bought one of their car trailers back in 2006 (I think they started making trailers first before the canopies) and the trailer is still perfect. We were looking at Bushtech vs Rhino vs RSI and when we visited GZ and they showed us around the factory and explained how everything is made and all the new features their canopy had we were sold. In the end we took their "Ultimate Edition" which I think is their top end canopy and it was about R32k with LED lights, insulation padding on the ceiling and also that security barrier on the back window. My dad added a bunch of things on as well as they make their own tents and awnings and probably the best cargo slider I have ever seen. They did have 4 or 5 different levels of canopies so based on price we got a lot of standard accessories included in the R32k.

When we were there they were weight testing some of their products, their roof rack took 3 tons which is just crazy and this was fitted to a canopy so the canopy also took 3 tons without bending or breaking.

So yes I'd say have a look and see if you can visit some of the guys so you can get a closer look at the fit and finish etc. but would definitely recommend GZ for their Overlanding stuff and their trailers.
Thank you for the info. They have a nice canopy, roof top tent ("carbon fibre") and 270 awning combo, as per the attached image. Very convenient if everything fits together.

I have ordered an Alu-Cab for my vehicle ( D-Max ) I have their tent, awning and shower cube with some other goodies.
Everything was on my Cruiser and I am going to pop it onto their canopy.

Will post some pics when it is finally on.

Personally, I have only had good service from Alu-Cab.
I looked at RSI, GZ, Alu-Cab and Tusk in person. RSI looks the best by far!

Thanks for sharing the info! I will definitely do so!

Haha, I understand. The wife also wants to know where all her luggage will go if I install accessories I will probably also just do the canopy for now and see what I need in the future.

Thanks for the advice. Seriously considering this just because they are based in CPT. The Explorer model with ammo crate slider is about R4k more in total than GZ with shipping but I think I'll probably go with Alucab just for the home ground advantage reason in case of any issues. Are they still a good brand?

I cannot personally vouch for Alu-cab but their facility and products seem world-class. It’s really hard to choose between any of these brands these days - we are spoilt for choice. I’m seeing our proudly SA canopies, RTTs and awnings on YouTube all around the globe.

Bushtech has been great and very helpful. On my 80 they put a floor onto the canopy and also fitted certain pieces onto the canopy allowing me to make it a slip on for the converted flatbed. Strengthening the canopy in the process.

This allowed me to then build my own interior in the canopy the way I wanted it.

I'm also based in the CPT area and have the same challenge. Bushtech however has 3 suppliers/ installers in the region. Alucab seems to innovate less than some of the other brands, but I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I still think they have the best awning on the market.

    Default Best Overlanding Canopy?

I forgot to mention that I used the RSI fitment centre behind Checkers Hyper in Brackenfell (Brackengate Business Park).

At least I’m OK for servicing should I need it. All my accessories were professionally fitted and the electrical for the NL LED lights is super neat with in-line fuses.

Bit the bullet on Bushtec now (excuse my tears), couldn't not get it after all the good reviews.
