Most of you would be aware that toyota stubbornly does not make the 2.4GD6 extra cab in a 4x4. I currently own a 2.4GD6 xcab manual that I’m looking to try and convert to 4x4. Has anyone tried this before or heard of someone that has tackled such a project? I have searched google and youtube but to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated

Unless you have access to a very very cheap donor vehicle, it is not worth it.
Colleague at work looked into it, and with pricing out the major components from the local scrapyard, it worked out "cheaper" for him to sell the 2.4
and get the 2.8 4X4.
Short list of what you'll need:
Front spindles, with sideshafts.
Front diff and cradle with propshaft.
Transfer case - Possibly also new gearbox - couldn't get clarity in what all would need to change to bolt transfer onto 2x4 gearbox.
Computer for transfer case and front diff control, with wiring harnesses and buttons/controls.
New Gearbox crossmember
Rear propshaft need to be modified.
