After deciding not to sell my LJ78 and getting it back on its feet, I am thinking about not doing the engine swop but in stead do some key mods to get the most out of the 2L-T motor. Based on this forum post, I have the following engine upgrades as the top priorities:
1. Free up the flow in the exhaust
2. Install an EGT sensor (a full engine monitoring system, e.g. Madman, would be ideal but this is the start)
3. Install a manual boost controller on the turbo
4. Install an intercooler
5. Tune the boost for optimal power at safe EGT levels
Now, the point of this post: I am in the Stellenbosch area, can anyone recommend a workshop within 50km that will be able to do this kind of custom intercooler sourcing and installation?
Any links to other forum posts or other opinions and input will also be appreciated!
Other stuff on the list include:
- fix the hub lockers because the 4x4 is currently not working (probably replace e-hubs with manual hubs)
- fix the small rust spots and respray
- suspension upgrade
- the list goes on (project car)
PS: this build thread is truly inspirational
