Definitely interested for Android, but have a question. Are similar maps available for our neighbouring countries, especially Namibia?

Would be interesting to see it in action.
I use Garmin Open maps on my GPS. On my android I have a fair amount of different apps. My favourits are A-GPS tracker and MAPS.ME

Although that means the app is not so little storage wise - at the moment I've only got the Western Cape covered and it weighs in at around 2 GB - it is very simple. The only functionality is basically panning/zooming/viewing the map and displaying/tracking your location. I use for added "situational awareness" if you like, in conjunction with a GPS using T4A doing the navigating.

Recently I've had some interest from a few friends who want to use the app as well, and have asked for increased coverage. So I thought I might as well clean it up, make the maps a bit more presentable by adding some terrain effects and cover the entire country. If I invest my free time to do that though, I'd like to know that people will actually use it as well.

So, will there be any interest among you guys for something like this? The biggest hurdle to using it will be storage space, I guesstimate the whole country will require ~ 15 GB. At the moment, it's also only for Android, but it can quite easily be made available for iOS as well.

It will also be free, of course.

Attached below are some screenshots to give an idea of what it looks like.

    Thanks!
    Phil.

I'm definitely interested. How is the progress on the app? Is it available already?

Hi Hendrik, not yet unfortunately, but almost there. Ran into some issues with the size of data/map files required.

Works fine on powerful devices but not on older/more entry-level ones, so it needs to be sorted.

    Thanks for the interest!
