Recalibrate
|
Gents
I have the above unit, and it has been working 100% as expected.
But recently the touchscreen is taking commands to the right of the screen i.e. if I key "d" it will log "j". All tap-ins all accepted horizontally to the right of the screen.
Any way to rectify this? Or is the touch screen moertoe.
Thanks

I'm on the phone. Will look it up later on the PC.

Try this if the calibration is way off and you cannot get to the settings or display menu.

Perhaps there's a way to do a hard reset on the device? That may help
Interesting tidbit which may or may not help; it uses a resistive touchscreen versus a capacitive touchscreen (like on phones, tablets, etc). It measures the resistance in the x and y directions to determine where on the screen you're touching.

Interesting indeed. It only works with sharp point touch such a a stylus ie if you dont have finger nails it wont take commands.
Weird thing is it seems to start behaving and then moves off to the right again, so far of it is almost impossible to activate that function. Thus the malfunction is not consistent.
Makes me think the screen is kaput.
Thanks for the assistance

By the looks of it, the Nuvi 710 is at least 15 years old. Not a bad lifespan by any means. The electronics nerd/DIYer/cheapskate in me would want to remedy the issue instead of replace it. But alas something difficult to fix may have gone wrong.
