Default National Luna Green Box 25A - biggest lithium battery that will fit?

    Hi,

I have a NL green box (25A) unit and I want to replace the Enertec 105Ah deep cycle with a Lithium-Ion battery.

What is the largest Lithium battery currently available that will fit in this unit?

    According to the spec sheet:

    • Max battery size : 325mm x 180mm x 280mm (L x W x H)

    So this eliminates the Blue Nova BN13V-108-1.4k Lithium batteries, as their dimensions are 330 x 175 x 195mm (W x D x H) and 330 x 173 x 220mm (W x D x H) respectively for the BT enabled vs non BT enabled.....they seem to be 5mm too long/wide.

    This leaves the Blue Nova BN13V-82-1k with dimensions 260 x 169 x 227mm (W x D x H).

I am not well versed in all things camping power, so my question to the experts:

With my current Enertec 105aH battery in the green box and a 240W foldable solar panel, would I be wasting my money on a Blue Nova BN13V-82-1k Lithium Ion battery? Are there larger capacity Lithium batteries that can fit in the NL Green Box?

I use the box to power my 65L Snowmaster fridge, off grid for 4-5 days at a time.

    Many thanks for any input.

Default National Luna Green Box 25A - biggest lithium battery that will fit?

We had a 105A/h AGM battery for camping,

It got too heavy to lift

I rebuilt our camp box and bought the BN 82A/h
This battery totally outperforms the original battery.

Using 2x 80 watt panels with an additional 30Watt panel on cloudy days, this smaller lighter battery is a no brainer.

And with having more watts available it will charge fast, easily takes 20amp charge if you have it.

Tested ours on 300 watts at home, and on a Victron AC charger at 20Amps.

Edit: we have snomaster , ave use @ -15° , 17-25A/h at night
Recharged battery most time by 10Am (full sun)

I guess it’s discontinued now - I have the BN 105 a/h 1.2 Bluetooth - and it fits perfectly. There is a few mm clearance left for height, even above the terminal screws.

I use the 82AH BN in my NL battery box to run my Waeco when camping. It is a brilliant battery with fantastic performance and it is light.

Hi. Blue Nova has a 154 Amp battery that fits now. It's BN13V-154-2k. I have one and it's fitting perfectly.

The Blue Nova BN13V-82-1k seems like a good fit size-wise for your NL Green Box. Whether it's worth upgrading depends on your power needs and how well your current setup handles your fridge and solar panel.

As a few seems to be 330mm long and some members are using them perhaps the dimension should be confirmed on the box itself.

Hi everyone, not sure where else to ask or if anyone is still reading this…

two weeks ago I bought a national lunar green box, the 25amp one. We went on a trip to dullstroom to test it out and see if it will change to 100% but when we got there we noticed it was still sitting with 2 empty bars.

I left it in the bakkie as there was power where we were camping and hoped that on the drive home it would charge but still it sat with 2 empty bars away from full.

I have a 100amp lithium battery (the brand is PSS LifePO4-LFP 12100) that I bought new with the battery box and now I’m confused what could be the problem, the battery or the box? The wiring is done correctly and there are no places that it could be failing from the bakkie battery to the lithium one.

also one the plate where you change the modes from what battery you have there is also a green light next to ok but there is also a hazard mark there so not sure if it’s good or not?

if anyone can help me with any info it would much appreciated.

    also my bakkie is a 2016 Mazda bt-50 3.2L

I would start by connecting the battery to an AC compatible lithium charger to see if this gets the battery to 100% charge, and thus ruling out the battery from the box.

After that, how sure are you that you are getting the correct voltage to the bakkie port where you are plugging in the box?

A voltage based battery gauge, as supplied by NL on their green box, is not ideal for a lithium battery.

    https://www.nationalluna.com/product...ery-gauge-12v/

A full lithium's voltage is not much different from an empty lithium voltage. But it should not be showing empty
