Default Toyota Land Cruiser VX200 Shocks - Opinion

    Hi

My 2010 diesel model is stock. No offroad goodies fitted. Actually quite like it as stock, comfortable, drive like a dream, powerful and frugal on consumption, despite horrendous diesel price.

Not heavily loaded, over 2000km trip on average 150km/h gives me 12,5L/100km i.e 8,5km/L. Trip to town and back 140km average 130km/h gives me 11,8L/100km. Love it.

Anyway. Just had it thoroughly checked mechanically including suspension related, but there is nothing to be replaced or fixed, other than upcoming 10,000 service.

Thinking though that while at it, I'm keen to looking at replacing the standard Toyota shocks for future offroad trips. Now, I'm not into hectic stuff and I'm not keen to tow a offroad trailer. Thinking like Richtersveld, Kgalagadi etc.

I've googled and also read everything on this forum, but I'm still not sure.

Heard about Bilstein, but getting info which to purchase for my model is also very frustrating. Monroe, some good and some bad reviews. Ironman quite expensive. Not sure about Old Man Emu. Used to be the only brand, way back then.

I'll appreciate your opinion, advise and information.

    Thank you.

Fox, Tough Dog, Bilstein and Old Man Emu all very good (listed in my personal order of preference).

Thank you both. Finally got part Bilstein info with part numbers. Would like to read a bit about Fox.

I have Fox on my Hilux DC and they’re better than any other shock / springs that I’ve experienced.

Running Tough Dog on one 200 and Old Man Emu on the other. They both equal off road to me but Old Man Emu feel better on road.
