Just used my card 3 times and did online banking, all ok on my side. Hopefully yours comes right soon.

They sent out several communiques in the past week informing people of maintenance and upgrades this weekend.

Yeah, had to pay cash. My card very slow at Checkers and Clicks early this morning but it went through. No Standard bank card was working at WW 15 minutes ago .

I did not receive any communication about maintenance. But one would think that they will plan maintenance and upgrades in the middle of the night, not a Saturday morning.

Actually SB's status page mentions Intermittent performance due somthing broken, not maintenance.

I had a situation at MAKRO Springfield a short while back and just left my trolley with my own bags and all contents already processed through the till.

Embarrassing YES, irritating - more than.

I go there about once a month to buy for the month - but it is for personal use.
I was informed that I cannot buy "bulk" on their "pensioner" card and that my card would be cancelled if I continued in that way.
Long story here.

Anyway to be FAIR, I do not know whether to blame the bank or MAKRO.

Let's just say that I had used the same Credit AND Debit cards at other retailers both before and after the event at MAKRO Springfield without any issue.

I can prove this with my card statements to the necessary entities.

Just saying ... but do not know which to "blame" ?

Most likely not limited to the BANK only, maybe the retailer as well ? Or any one of the two.

So no way to proceed except to make it known.

Even here in Eswatini, but cashiers are saying network is down. Lots of abandoned groceries at the till.

but here more often than not networks are down over weekends. Have to always ask “ is your card machine working?” Before sitting down for lunch or putting fuel in.

Swambo also had to go and do some shopping for baby today. The only day this whole week and now she cannot pay for baby stuff. Standard bank is the most useless bank on the face of the earth. Wish they decide to rather just close down. We wont even notice they're gone

Errrrr, I will because I have a couple or so of small investments with them.
Of course that could change, but been with them since age 18 so reluctant to change and , as I said, I am not sure where the fault lies - maybe it is MAKRO ?
So I cannot point finger too much - it's just a problem.
Must I always carry enough CASH with me just in case ?
Not safe - the older folk are targets.

Collected a whole lot of meat that was processed at the butcher today. Total bill R15k ... arrive to pay and the card machines are offline. Had to run off and draw cash, personally I'm not a fan of walking around with that much cash
