And to think about 25years ago they were the bank with the best systems that worked most of the time. Recently even had to wait a day longer for my salary due to their crap systems after pay roll did go through in time.
Recently took me more than a month to close a crt card at Standard. Just had to email too many places and media before I got some action.

No. Personally I was just having a good moan - everything private & business is with STD BANK. I cannot begin to imagine the trauma.........better the usless devil you know. .........
And truthfully, it is not often that I have problems with them, it was just yesterday that grinded me a lot.

Have two credit cards, from different banks?
If you need music in the bush or on the beach, you’re missing the point.
If you cannot pay then you cannot buy so you save
I take the same approach as jaconell. Will not change the bank. Too much hassle and the next one will most probably be no better. Maybe not the same issues but some other.

I beg to differ. If I had any issues with a bank, to get access to my money in it, then I would switch without hesitation. And in my opinion the "go-to" banks would be either Capitec or FNB. I had too many issues in the past with Absa and SB to trust them to provide my salaries and savings to me in time without affecting any of my other financial processes/savings.
A few weeks ago I had an interesting chat with my father-in-law, who was director of finances for a major brand (very very well known one - many of you add it to your brandies) and he also told me FNB would be his next choice for the services, technology and innovations that they are offering.
He's very strict save-aware, litterally doing everything he can to keep bank costs to the mimumum. And because of a recent incident he had with SB (when he was in hospital; when the bank won't give money to rest of his family), whe promptly closed all his accounts and moved all of his money (and that is number upwards from 4m) from SB to Capitec, and was very happy with their services.
On the off-times (very rare) of Capitec there was many options available such as to do shopping at PnP (because PnP also offers Capitec cash withdrawals), which also has the lowest bank costs (to withdraw cash), so it worked out for him.
He even moved his employee's money - with their permissions - from SB to FNB in order to prevent that their personnel's salaries and more are not affected by delays as what SB experience. That should be saying a lot.
