Hilux rear seat fold down?

Hi guys

I took delivery of my Hilux last week and see the rear seat does not fold down. I also see there are companies selling kits to solve this issue.

Has anyone attempted a DIY fix on this at all?

The kit costs R2500 so may do that unless I find a DIY option.

I see if you cut 10mm off one of the holding clips it's possible....well the guys did it on the previous D4D models.....not sure if anyone has tried it on a gd6 yet?

What would be nice is to have a hinge mechanism which will allow you to (not at the same time) be able to open up both.

Exactly, I would like to use the single seat (that can flip up desperately) space for a small fridge and goodies space. Will see what I can do, "some day" Toyota can deliver again. At the moment it seems delivery only by Dec/Jan.

For the Vigo Hilux (D-4D) you do not even have to cut the "pins/hooks" attached to the rear seat, back rest.

You simply just bend the "loops" that is attached to the cabin body, a centimeter or two down.

The one's I rever to, is the one's in the video which were hit with the rubber hammer.

I took some photos of the one video.

It looks like the guy has it covered .

The bracket which the seat is bolted to looks like can also be removed.

A stud can be welded to the hinge part going both way.

Bolts to go both ways.

Another option would be to approach the manufacturer of the South African product and see if they would do us a group discount...R2500

I feel their price is steep but maybe they will work with us?
