From Monkey Bay to Cape Town via Zim and Mozam

Hello 4x4 community,

I am planning a trip with my Toyota RAV 4 (currently based in Lilongwe and registered in Malawi) from Monkey Bay to Cape Town mid August. I am planning to travel for 3 weeks and have basic camping equipment with me.

I am quite new to overland driving and would be super grateful to hear the experiences of anyone who has done this trip (or similar) before and could share some precious tips travelling/ things that cannot be missed along the way/ common mistakes as a newbie that can be avoided.

Some questions so start with:

-where is a good spot to cross from Zimbabwe to Mozambique? I definitely want to drive to praia de Tofo along the way.
-how is the border crossing situation with a car that is registered in Malawi?
-has anyone currently travelled in Mozambique at the height of Beira re safety and roads?
