So I have owned both an Amarok and the Ranger. The vehicles have different characteristics and drive differently, both vehicles have treated me well with zero major issues during ownership.

I am very interested to see what the “love child” between Ford and VW will end up looking like and how it will perform.

Why would you have to activate the elc diff lock on the multimedia touch screen? At best you can't even change the radio station on a bumpy road on these pesky screens, let alone off road. (5.40 in to the video)

Not from what I have read but who knows. Seems like different messages from different publications.
But as far as I had it, it will have a low range. Let's wait and see.

"V6 powered Rangers and Everests will be backed exclusively by Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission and a new full-time on-demand 4x4 system. This system is different to that in the current Everest in that it will allow users to manually lock the center differential in 4x4 high and low range as well as offering full-time 4x4 on any road surface in auto mode."

Thx for adding this, but it seems some can't read or register what they read properly...
And then there are dozens of youtube videos out already, so maybe we have a hearing/understanding problem too...

No it actually depends on the model. Low range still standard on 90% of the 4x4 models.

Well, to the Amarok fans out here who doesnt want a Ford engined/made Amarok, there is no way in which you can have a new VW made Amarok…..,clearly VW made the call because it wasnt profitable for them to do all the R&D and to make a new Amarok.
Its all about money and the beancounters…

Its the same with all modern big brands who shifted production to China. Everybody cried out loud,….. , but in the end car manufacturers said its still made with their quality control standards.

Think it was BMW who first stopped saying where it was made, …..simply saying it was made by BMW.

    Now everybody does it.

Funny, but people have no problem with Toyotas Urban Cruiser being a fully made and buildt Suzuki. In fact it seem that people want the Toyota badge more than the Suzuki badge, although everything about the Urban Cruiser is Suzuki,………
    Funny world we live in.

Yes it is how it goes in the modern world. Doesn't mean that I have to like, accept it or go with it. It's still my choice who I buy from. And also that of many other fans. And that why is said that it will be a flop as well.
Thing is, it is not a Ford built Amarok. It is a Ranger with an Amarok badge.

Altough similar, there are some differences between Ford/VW and Toyota/Suzuki example.
Here it is the smaller guy (Suzuki) selling many more of their vehicles now than they would have if it wasn't for the relationship with the big guy (Toyota). I reckon if Suzuki had the dealer network and established brand that Toyota had it would have sold as many. So people automatically drift to the bigger guy.

But with the Amarok it is the bigger guy (Ranger) (in bakkie terms) not going to be challenged by the numbers that the smaller guy (Amarok) sells. So why would people drift to the smaller guy?
They will drift to the bigger guy, which means the Amarok is not going to sell.

I can imagine that VW didn't want to concentrate on developing a new pick up with internal combustion engine, since sales of new ICE powered vehicles supposedly should stop by 2035.
I guess they are busy in the EV department.

That is the reason. VW is going 110% electric.i dont care what people say but the existing amarok is a great reliable bakkie. Im gone buy the last one just before the new one arrived.
