namakwa eco from Pella to Vioolsdrif

Hi.

We have officially booked to do this trip in May with an offroad caravan, but I need more info regarding:

a) Which are your preferred camping sites? Has the level of the Orange river affected them at all? Can you pay when you arrive at the camp? Are there any facilities at any of these camps (drinking water and toilets).

b) Any specific tracks/routes to avoid especially with an off-road caravan?

c) Any advice will be appreciated. eg How many days should you spend in this section of the park.

The Camp sites near Pella and the camp sites at Melkboom and Ramansdrif is next to the river a big open are so as the river rises you just camp next to where the water level is at that stage, no problem.
Just be aware that the river level is now rising again though it should not be too much, less than 1 m i think.
Ramansdrif is the best in my opinion, but they are all wild camp so it is what you make of it.

Klein Pella farm is a private farm on the route that has camp sites that has to be booked separate.

Personally, can only advise that The Growcery at Vioolsdrif is nice. Assuming that you will camp in Vioolsdrif too.

You need to book on Namakwa 4x4 Eco Trail website to use the trail as well as their camp sites. Other than the commercial camp sites, there is nothing there and also nowhere to pay.

There are also places to wild-camp.

The best on this trail is to book some sites but then just take it day-by-day and explore.

2. Ramansdrift
3. Kamgab


Our question is, we coming from the North Cape (Kenhardt) side.


Will it be best to go via Pella side. Or I see there is another gravel road going west of Pella almost to the Witbank area to goto Grootmelkboom and then onwards?

To get the full experience of the route rather start at Pella and then a visit to the old Catholic Church.
