Kosi Cat on trailer loaded with a few items for a months trip in Moz is about 1.6 ton. (Boat dry weight without motors and petrol is 700kg)

Those are not low profile tyres, 18” rims and I take them down to 1.6 bar.
Loose sand is not much of an issue, never had a problem. Just remember to turn off DSC

2.8 GD6 on the way to Namibia. About 6-7kms per l at around 110. The commander is a big heavy girl. Recently did software/downpipe and FF and gained another 100nm. Have not towed yet with the Toyota but it feels amazing in comparison.

First combo I can remember in a family was a bay window 2000l Kombi with a rented Jurgens 460 if memory serves me right. My Dad always rented before we bought our first caravan.
Next up was our Gypsey Caravette 5 of early 80's towed mostly with our 74 Ford Granada 3.0 XL. Never skipped a beat or a town to fill up.
Same caravan then landed behind my 93 Nissan 2.4 Hardbody. As long as you stayed in 4th you were fine. Many trips to the Northern shores of KZN with that combo.
Later years I got a Gypsey Caravette 6 and this van was towed by either my Disco 1 V8 auto or the Disco 2 facelift V8 auto. Both did well towing this van.
After a wobble life threw at me and I found my feet again I got me a Gypsey 4 of 1983. Lovely big 6 sleeper for the odd occasions we slept over on our way to our destination. Best vehicle ever used was my Disco 3 V8. You had to watch the speedo constantly as you would hit 140km/h if you didn't take care.
Again life threw a curve ball and the D3 disappeared from my yard. The Gypsey still with us and between my Disco 1 V8 and the Td5 Disco 2 she takes us where we fancy. Last trip was to Sodwana with the Td5 doing the honors.

Next up will be something smaller behind one of the Landies.

Jeep Renegade 2.4L (before 1.5" lift and 65 sidewall tyres) with GT Libra. Fuel - even though it is a Fiat - consumption is that of a Jeep. 15-17L/100km at 110km/h.
