OwenD did your hamerite last? (not peel yet).
Cause I'm also thinking of going the hamerite route. Just want to make sure about how much preperation is required....
Did you remove the tyres from the rims before painting?

Was only planning on unleashing the new 'Winnie' to the forum when her face-lift is finito.
S'pose its a good time to learn to post a pic, eh?
    Beware Griet, Winnie is coming!

That really makes a statement on the Landy. Very nice.

Those landy rims look quite striking in black, no need for another type of rim at all.

    Those look good!
I've been doing a bit of research online and the consensus of the opinions that I read was that powder coating wasn't a good idea... not sure exactly why..
I also went to a paint place last week (sorry I forget the name) and they advised me against hammerite...
They also suggested I get my rims done professionally (as opposed to DIY) as it would be necessary to use heat resistant paint.. makes sense.
Malas in PTA quoted me about R300 per wheel so will be taking my set there tomorrow afternoon.

...unless you lot convince me otherwise again...

Shot, I've got a set of 305-70-16 BFG Muds, 30mm TerraFirma wheel spacers and 50mm spring spacers all round. Planning to fit when home next, hope they all go together without any trouble.
Been told that 305s will be ok on 7j rims. If anybody knows differently, kindly keep it to yourself, I wont be able to bear the heartache.
Wheelarches can be trimmed with a Stanley knife. CAREFULLY. Had 35" BFGs with a 2"+ OME lift on a 90. Small trimming, no rubbing.

4Pound those rims look cool especially with those wickard looking tyres

Sias, the rims are bold and look great, now get rid of the honeymoon tyres and fit some M/T. Then you will have almost the most potent 4x4 around i thinks.
