    2. Replaced tires (a couple of times - bloody expensive 19inch low profiles!)
    3. Replaced air intake pipe on the turbo (leaked due to small crack appearing)
    4. Replaced injector seals
    5. Replaced starter motor
    6. Replaced intercooler (this is a common problem from what I gathered)
    7. Replaced shocks (rear only - %&$# expensive as these are "mos" special and you can only get OEM parts for this)
    8. Replaced breaks and discs
    9. Replaced keyfobs (these are sealed units, thus you can not replace the flatteries inside, unless you break it open)
    10. Replaced front passenger lock mechanism
    11. Replaced water temp sensor
    12. Replaced fan engine speed controller (when this module goes, you engine fan will always be on, even if you switch your vehicle off and remove the keyfob)
    13. Both front HID light bulbs (also expensive as $%&@!, about R2k each, but over R3k each when buying through approved LR dealer)
    14. Rear light bulbs (could only get it from LR dealer at R80.00 per bulb, cause it is "mos" painted red and sits behind a clear plastic lens. Next time I will buy cheap R8.00 bulbs and use red glass paint to paint them, way cheaper option)

    Good news!

Your item #7, shocks is available aftermarket - kind of. LR uses Bilstein as OE shocks and you can get the correct Bilsteins from Imcomex in Centurion - Jan Kruger help me to find the correct shocks.

Also #9: You can get the battery seperate, break open the FOB, solder in the new battery and buy new FOB casings at LP4A in Midrand at a few hundred bucks.

#12 - There is a mod that can be done to fix this module. Still a grand or 2 but not R10k plus.

    Thanks for your feedback.
Good to know about the shocks!

I have looked into replacing the battery of the key fob myself. Have seen a couple of HowTo's and all of them are more or less like this one:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDQKC7ss1nU

Ended up replacing them as the key fob did show its age.
Thought I would just as well replace them and they'll be good for another couple of years.

Here is a video on how to programme new key fobs yourself:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11eFtKPh8fg

Regarding the fan speed controller, the total cost ended up to be just under R7k, and that included a service as well.
I still have the broken module that I started to open up, then I git distracted.

Reading through this thread I'm glad I sold my Freelander II when I did. It was a fantastic vehicle (TD4 HSE), but past 120 000 km and it was rear diff, then haldex unit, then steering rack started and I decided to let it go. All that in less than 5000 km.

Reading all of these posts it almost feels that the major issues come out before 200k. I bought my 2007 td4 on 217k and only big issue was also on gearbox which cost me quite a bit but 2x bad indys are yo blame in my opinion. Further just minor service items. Also CPM. Now on 290k. Drove down from Centurion to Langebaan a few weeks ago with a big 14ft trailer behind and it pulled stretch marks into it. The niggles do get irretating from time to time but still awesome to drive and very capable offroad.
