Ek't nie veel kennis van die engine om meer inligting te kan gee nie.

Back with series3 or 110. Don't care anymore tot fix it up. Just want it roadworthy for shortish trips and camping.

Engine: i would think diesel, my be Landrover or any other make.
Gearbox: manual landi or same 4x4 make than engine with driver side prop outs.
What is my options ( cheapish please)

Another question. Can you flatten a 110 driver's seat, and sleep in it. I know of someone who used to sleep on a thin matress when wild clamping, plainly on ground. These days he let his seat down and sleeps there.

With my truck driving contract that will soon leave me with a 2 week gap before I start with the Persimmons, it Leaves me with a wild camping oppertunity in the west coast.

What would be a reasonable 2 week rent for an old 60 series UNTAG cruiser or old safari, taken in account I will only drive there, and will be camping stationary in one spot for the rest of time. A solar panel and fridge will be a bonus.

Now back to work. Found out one can camp with any old car, don't need 4x4 for most places.

Aangesien 95%+ van my km op gravel en teer is, het ek vandag vir my n veiliger teer en gravel opsie gekoop wat 20km/l doen, inp 3-5km/l. No brainer met brandstof wat R25 n liter kos, nou kry ek n voertuig verniet.

… problem is that when you buy
a ‘hardy & heavy duty’ 4*4 for R50-R60k
the running and maintenance cost
will almost certainly be more relevant
than the acquisition cost …
… be it a Cruiser, Landy, Jeep or Patrol.
or whatever.

IMO iro Landys, the highest capability/price value will be probably be a V8 and yes probably dressed as a Disco 1 or 2
or a well renovated/maintained old Range
Rover Classic … but although simple, theyre all thirsty and need ongoing attention and maintenance.
