Its not about whether it will fit or not... It's about all these extra little tings that you buy but don't use (Soos kaggel kakkies)... When overlanding, to try and not be overloaded, every kg counts...

My parents have used skottel skaars since I can remember (from when I was probably 5 years old) while camping... And so have I... In the 34 years, I have never seen one topple over, or had an instance where I could not get it level using stuff around camp and in nature... So FOR ME (my opinion) I will not buy something like this... Same thing goes for those huge plastic steps to level my vehicle (RTT). I have always managed with rocks/bricks/spade and lately my air helper springs...

I will be able to make it fit. But that is not the point.

Received my stand today. Absolutely thrilled. Would have done a skottel breakfast, but unfortunately it is raining. I think it is an absolutely ingenious device. Thank you!!

It's a pleasure, and I'm super happy that you are happy. The Skottel breakfast will have to wait for the weekend... haha.

Nice engineering, well constructed. You may not have a "consumer" product, but you'll sell a few to those that appreciate the work in producing an inheritance piece. Mostly though, kudos to you for putting something on the market. It's the start that counts and with time, you modify, refine and repurpose your ideas. Voorspoed.

Hi Iank, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Forgive me for asking but I cant seem to find the spelling error on the website... could you possibly steer me to exactly where you saw it? Maybe its one of those cases that because I'm specifically looking for one small thing, I'm looking completely past it... haha.

Just my opinion. It would sway my buy. Have a look at the design - there are bolts sticking out of the ground.

Also Werner, I assume your aren't 6 years old, it's kids that would concern me.

Having said that, I cant think of an alternative safer system.
Kids shouldn't be allowed around a gas cooking rig anyway. Imagine if you didn't have such a stable stand.

This type of device has been around before in another format. I had one.

Gas cylinders like the one shown , when fitted with a tall appliance feeder tube and a wide and top heavy cast iron griller top or pootjie will always be a risk out there, especially standing in soft sand or even with a support base like this being there to being accidentally tripped over in the dark....

My best experience tells me that safety is a prime consideration out there and that it's safer to work on a firm table, with a short necked appliance feeder stem/tube rather than go for a free standing appliance which may conceivably then require additional legs to safely support it all.

Or look for a wider base-ringed, heavier gas cylinder than the one depicted.

    Enjoy..

Thumbs up Re: New type of Gas Bottle Stand?

Full disclosure, this post is intended to receive feedback / thoughts on the product... not to try drive sales through this post hence I've removed all the contact and sales info from the document (think this is the wrong section of the forum for that - maybe you could also steer me to where best that could be posted).

The accessory in question is a stand designed to clamp onto the bottom of mostly any gas bottle (up to 9kg) - it clamps onto the inner lip on the gas bottles base ring.

The main intent is to make the gas bottle (hot wheel / skottel) more stable, with the ability to level the setup and to eliminate rocking on things like grass or brick paved surfaces, etc.

Anybody used anything like this before?
Is there a need? - So far a few people like the concept.
Stainless Steel vs Electro-plated mild steel?
It weighs 1.1kg - is this too heavy? Some have said so but I personally don't think so.

I've attached a pdf document showing how it works, pictures, etc. but removed the contact details, etc. in hopes that the post doesn't get deleted

I'm also a bit worried to post a link to the website... not sure if thats allowed here so rather playing it safe... haha.

I've mostly found that people interested have been a bit hesitant / don't really seem to see the need but after I've convinced them to just try it for a day or two (while camping), they come back loving it - thoughts on how I could get around this initial hurdle? Or maybe it's just something that people don't really worry about?

Looking forward to hearing back from the community.
Brilliant Design and well constructed, Well done.

Thanks Grant. I'm checking in with my sons in law if they want one too. May as well use the courier service to it's capacity
