    Requirements and Itinerary

This trail is NOT for the novice driver, or standard, sidestep equipped SUV/Bakkie, if you get things wrong here, it will cost you...
I rate it more taxing/technical/tricky than Moegatle.

Disclaimer: The owner of this forum, the OP, and organizers of this trip will take no responsibility for damages occurred while on this trip or on the trail.
The responsibility is solely on the driver of the vehicle, and it remains his responsibility through the whole route, given guidance or not.

The farm has a workshop and qualified personnel to fix any bent items
    see attachment
No drinking on the trail will be accepted.

Covid rules and restriction will stay in place as required by the law.

    Requirements:

    For the Route:

    • A 4x4 with good clearances and well planned protection of its vulnerable parts will be advantageous.
    • Good tough, reliable tyres, all terrains, but muds will be better, with a sidewall ratio of 60% or more is a non negotiable requirement
    • Low range, or a crawler gear (like an Amarok has) is a must
    • A diff-lock will be advantageous
    • Recovery gear (your own, please) (Proper recovery gear please, not just a rope and some bolts..)
    • Gloves
    • Recovery points (Solid ones)
    • Tyre changing equipment including a jack that works on your vehicle (Do not think that your OEM jack works. Go and make sure)
    • A tyre pump - The nearest petrol station is quite a way from the venue
    • A 2 way radio, preferably VHF with ORRA channels
    • Drinking water/cool drinks
    • Lunch
    • Snacks
    • Something warm to wear - take note of this one
    • Proper outdoor shoes (Thongs/slops will not be allowed.) Thank me later...
    • A rain coat or poncho or oiler (an umbrella will not work)
    • Camera (The scenery is fantastic)
    • Hat and sun crème
    • Kalmeer piilitjies

For the Camping: (There are more than 50 campsites)

    • A water proof tent/swag that is also wind proof (bring all it's pegs with, you are going to need them)
    • Storm straps if you need them
    • Shade.. The trees are small, and do not give shade
    • Lights
    • A rain coat
    • Something warm to wear and sleep in
    • Chairs
    • Cooking and braaing tools and equipment
    • Wood, each vehicle x2 bags please
    • Your own toilet paper
    • Towels
    • Shovels (For clearing cow poop)
    • A boma will be advantageous
    • Sense of humor and a sense of adventure

    General:

    • The time of year means absolutely nothing for the weather there... It has been 3 degrees Celsius before, at the campsite at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on the 17th of December (2012) So take heed.
    • Gazebos do not do well here, if you do bring one, tie it down proper..., and if you use an awning, you need to peg it securely
    • The road to the campsite requires low range and a good clearance trailer if you are towing. When it rains and you are towing, you will be busy, believe me..
    • There is wood for sale at the site, but it is fire wood, and not for cooking
    • There are no braais at the venue - Please bring a boma if you have one
    • The ablutions are VERY basic, but clean and usable, with flushing toilets and showers, but there is a donkey that needs to be stoked by us.
    • There is NO power available
    • There are cabins at the venue, but they are quite removed from the camp site.
    • The trail is long and very taxing, but after doing it, you will feel like you conquered Everest!
    • Ronel, allows gennies to be used, but if you bring one, please be aware that we are camping in pristine nature and would like to experience it that way

    Itinerary.

    Friday the 28th of January
Arrival at venue, setting up camp, and krapping nes.. (Those staying in the huts must please come greet us that evening)
We all can just chill, cook, meet and greet, start a big fire, or just be with your close friend/family. IOW do what ever the hell you want to

There is a very nice sundowner spot just above the campsite... (30min one way)
Or you can go to the border post for a quick view (30min one way)

    Saturday 29th
    Drivers Meeting

    • When: 08h30
    • Where: Main Campsite
    • Who: All the drivers and co pilots

    Trail drive starting time: 9am
Plans for trail: The main trail - 4 to 7 hours depending on the trail and the drivers

If.... we feel up to it and there is time we can do another short trail afterwards

That night there will be a big fire, and a big kuier

    Sunday the 30th
We breakfast, break camp and head home.
The adventurists can do another short trail if they have time

Please remind me of anything I missed
