    Unhappy Hilux Starter sluggish

Hi allI have a 2014 Hilux dc 3.0 D4D and noticed the starting is abit sluggish at times. The problem is intermittent so I thought it was the battery so checked the water and topped it up. However that didn't resolve it, I got the battery tested and was advised the problem isn't battery related. It tends to happen as the bakkie engine gets hotter. I checked the wiring to the starter and all looks intact with no loose or damaged connections. Any ideas on what the actual problem could be?Thanks...

I had the same issue on my 2006 Hilux. Changing the battery made a tiny difference.
I lived with it for years. Did not let me down.

If I still had the vehicle i would strip the starter and clean it. That should help.
Its not about how fast you are but about how quick you get there...

I had a Ford Husky panel van.(stolen) Also had battery checked but was ok. Eventually stripped starter and found a brush housing skew and out of true. Straightened out and it solved the problem. Unfortunately didnt stop them from stealing it.

Mine very sluggish now, my indi completely certain it needs a recon. It's worked damned hard, we're very keen wildlife watchers and birders so on our breaks the car is off and on all the time, perhaps 100 times a day on a good day in the park. Due my 240k service, they'll take care of it then.

I've heard of this a few times now. Seems it is a common problem on the d4d's.
