    Default Cricket world cup 2021

Ok so no-one has started a fred yet, so let me kick off.

I was just watching the team selection and wonder why they left out Tahir and Morris. Both have excellent records in IPL. Faf is one of the top batsmen in this year's IPL, and he is not selected, how in the world?

I'm afraid I don't rate SA with a snowball's hope in hell. One of the commentators was talking about how Miller could be a big factor in how we perform. I'm afraid if we have to rely on him we are in even deeper trouble. Miller has had an occasional good knock, but invariably against bad bowling. Miller is fairly helpless against good bowling. He seems to lack the ability to "read" the ball. So if the ball doesn't arrive in the correct position for him to smash it, he fluffs it. So if we have to rely on him and the likes of Rassie vd Dussen, I have no hope.

We need the likes of an AB or a Klusener in the team and we just don't have it.

All I can say is I REALLY do hope a certain motormouth commentator is not invited. I've watched a few IPL games and he just does not stop. Even commentating on what the batsman is thinking and what he was thinking in the previous over.
I'll probably watch a few games but do agree. Proteas won't Win the world cup. As long as they beat Australia.

I honestly didn't know there was a WC this year, I learnt it when opening this thread.
I used to be a huge cricket fan, not only Protea fan, but I lost interest the last year or 3.

I can't really say why though, I don't even watch IPL anymore and I used to enjoy that quite a lot for what it is.

It is only a 20-20 cup, not a "real" world cup, still looking forward t it.

I am always hesitant to get behind a team with big hitters or big names or the so-called match winners.

As with everything in team sports, balance is key.

The inclusion of a "Klusener" or AB or the like may sound great, but it can actually work against balancing the team.

Take a look at RCB for example: on papers they should destroy most IPL teams (or even international sides for that matter), but they have been struggling to get the proper balance within the team for quite some time now.

I actually think we have a pretty balanced side right now and although not the best 11 individuals around, I expect at least a semi final place.

Too much politics in CSA (actually SA sport in general) will be our demise

Also the reason I lost interest.

Well its T20 so very much any ones game thats what makes it exiting even the Dutch could do well , but with the IPL lots of young Indian players doing well , and in the west Indies also hosting a similar tournament who knows , will be nice to watch , my prediction is the west Indies again

I'm also not optimistic, but not for the same reasons. I just think we're a perennial underperformer when the pressure is on. Our coaching staff is out of their depth, they lack man management skills, a typical case of those who can do aren't necessarily able to teach. Bob Woolmer was our last good coach.

As for Miller - people keep having a go at him, perhaps because they have unreasonable expectations of one guy. His T20 stats speak for themselves, I'll have him in my team every single time, perhaps just bat him a bit higher.

Iíll be watching and supporting. Weíve done well in T20ís recently - at the best of times itís a lottery, if you ainít in it, you canít win it.

Maybe i should rephrase. Not interested in SA teamís performance.

Will certainly follow the WC but will not lose my marbles when SA inevitably chokes.

I will support the Proteas 100%, do I expect them to win? Probably not, just wish that FAF was there, not concern about AB, he has been in shocking form since IPL resumed. If Proteas don't win I don't care who wins, preferably Black Caps - as long as it isn't England

Very much how I feel as well.
