    Default Grenadier Pricing revealed

    #516

    https://www.carmag.co.za/news/new-mo...-south-africa/

    Some extracts:

"The Ineos Grenadier has been scheduled to arrive in South Africa by July 2022."

"Indicative pricing for the Ineos Grenadier before any options has been noted to start at R1 395 000."

"In Johannesburg and Pretoria, the SMH Group will act as a hub while SMG will cover Cape Town and Durban." (I thought this was quite funny. You can go to the Land Rover dealer and get the Land Rover that Land Rover should have built )

"Ineos is currently in discussions with leading auto retailers to establish sites in Namibia and Botswana for launch, providing full sales and aftersales operations. Further retail partners will be appointed in Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana and Ivory Coast. The brand will launch in Angola, Kenya and Senegal with distributor partners."

Seeing as the product has been marketed as a thoroughbred adventuring vehicle, it promises that customers will never be further than 50 km away from an accredited workshop.

Thats marketing talk because if its to be sold in Namibia you will need 3000 accredited workshops to cover the country. Not even Ford, Toyota and VW combined have that many accredited workshops in Namibia. I dont even think there are 3000 accredited workshops in Namibia.

After following the design and build process of the Grenadier for the last 2 or so years, and seeing the amount of "loan parts" parts from other manufacturers that will be used "as is" in their vehicle. (meaning, the design was existing, and those parts are bough-out)

You can buy much more car for that kind of money.

in plain Afrikaans, they are just "Jannie, Annie, Grietjie, Sannie"

They are trying to recoup 10 years of design fees with the sale of 100 vehicles.

I see ASPW has a video out regarding the Grenadier`s price, I haven t watched it yet. would be interesting

It does actually have its own thread: right at the top of the first post, sorry that wasn't very clear. Copied here again: #516

I just put it here as well since I think the Grenadier is particularly interesting to Landie people.

R1.5m for a used model? Somebody drove it for 1 year and 1 service and probably realised that maybe it just wasn't doing the job as advertised?

Now for the specs to be revealed
    - kW & Nm
    - Tare & GVM
    - Power train specs
    - Legroom. Will a normal person fit comfortably

Cheaper than a 300LC and MB G. These are the competitors.

    Quite interested...

I am not an avid Grenadier follower, but the videos I have seen seem promising. However, though the price doesn't actually surprise me all that much they can't be expecting that many sales at that price point...

And then the "50km from an agent" claim must be a typo, 500 seems more likely, and then is will surely not apply to some oke sitting in Pofadder or the north of Nam. What bugs me even more is that to get to anything close to that it would need to be a workshop dedicated to another manufacturer (Ford, Toyota or who ever), these guys barely know how repair/maintain there own product, what are the chances they will know a very niche vehicle like the Grenadier well enough to do anything more than basic services?

At this point there seems to be too much talk an not yet any action to back it up. I really hope they get it right, but until then I am patiently sitting on the side lines to see where this will head...

I like the grenadier, been following since the inception. But at that price, if I wanted a rugged 4x4, I would go for a already off road kitted Mahindra karoo dusk and bank the remaining R 800k and use for other things that are nice
