    Dis nou 'n lekker sewe-kilometer-deur-die-sneeu-toe-ons-nog-jonk-was-fred!

I suggest a guideline: Before you complain about the quality of a product, check its current price against the inflated original with inflationcalc.co.za. I think in most cases we will be surprised how much less we are paying. I suspect you can buy a nice Pilot gel pen for the same (current value) money that you paid for a Bic twenty years ago.

But on the one positive note, it backfired on the Government and tax revenue from that sector decreased as a result, with knock on negative impact on employment

Rather say that since the bean counters influenced the buying process.

Quality is no longer a consideration in the buying process. It is only price.

I quoted on a project about a year ago. Was 20% out on price. Was on site last week. The cheaper product is falling apart!

Yep, I experience similar. I am not fussed either. Just remember, if you loose out on a contract you gonna get a repair and probably a maintenance contract when the cheap one fails.

But caned (sic) the sugar industry. They've had to adjust massively and - when the anti-sugar brigade win - as they will, it's a labour intensive industry that's in terminal decline unless the use of ethanol as a fuel is mainstreamed.

Ek het nou n uur lank gesukkel met n nuwe Jojo drukpomp net om te kry dat die ding stiller loop.

Die 3 boutjies wat die pomp en motor vasmaak line nie behoorlik op nie so die ding sing.

Unfortunately cane to ethanol is an expensive conversion, and needs government support. No support from there - no comment necessary about falling qualities in government

Rice Crispies. I have not had some for years. Got a pack couple of weeks ago. What a load of crap.
Jam. There is no more propper jam. All the jams sold now is crap. Bought fig jam and could not even see the pips inside like in years ago. And the taste is not there. Brands you could trust, like All Gold and KOO, is just not the same. That is why we make our own these days.

I only the crunchy or double crunch from Black Cat for myself and I can confirm those still have a lekker oil in.

We also buy the normal smooth black cat for the kids and yes, it's almost a paste with no lube.

    For sure.

But I know Rice Krispies did undergo a formal change recently and people were upset. You do still get the original ones, but what I heard is that they are imported now and a tad more expensive.
