    Is it a DT175?

An IT175 plastic tank fits and looks pretty good.

OT, but my kid just bought one of these. Damn! Makes me nostalgic for my days riding a DT50 to school every day.

That'll probably cost more than what the op paid for the entire bike?

    $240 excl shipping.
    Around R4k landed I reckon.

He should have checked the bike.

Its a farm bike, Pratley Putty and some welding is in order. if the hole is very big, buy 2 boxes of Pratley

It's going to be closer to R6k at current exchange rates including shipping and duties.

The IT tank fits nicely and looks the part on a DT, Its probably not too easy to find one these days and you need to check the fit because I put one on an old Enduro DT. But if I was the op I'd just repair the current tank, it's a farm bike.

Do some anti rust on the inside, then cover it with a layer of glassfibre.
    Sand smooth and paint it.

Or else flap it down to bear metal, fill it with water, and weld up the holes
