How many amps? They don't last 'cos they aren't built for load?

Quite so. They are actually designed to carry mega Amps, its the cheap build that is the problem. A quality Cig Plug should easily handle 50 Amps.

Its the thin wires and the cheap spring retainers that bugger it up. And the quality plugs do actually work.

    It is not the load.

It is the cheap plastic build. Just not robust enough

Change to a Brad Harrison type plug and make sure you have decent size wire to carry current. Nuff said.

Which is fine for a fixed installation but gives you interoperability and compatibility with no one.
