Default Advice on an inherited Jurgens Areo XL please.

    Hi all
I guess the title says it. I am not a caravanner and don't really know what I have .
Are there forums for regular caravans (Not off road types) or a place in the JHB east Rand where I can get it valued and possible sell off some bits and pieces that came with it.
I'll post a few pics if this post raises any interest.

Caravan and outdoor Life is a great place to start.
The Jurgans Areo XL was a fantastic caravan that can sleep 4 even though it was one of the smallest caravans made by Jurgens. It had a tare mass of round 550kg and a gross mass of 750kg so one could tow it with a 1400cc vehicle as it was originally tested by Caravan and Outdoor Magazine using a Renault 1400. (one wouldn't need an EB licence to tow it either!)
Has a 3way fridge a two gas burner stove a wash-up basin with running water and a cloak room with basin and running water this cloak room could be screened off leaving the rear area closed off if the rear dining table was set up as a double bed. By opening the full hanging cupboard door and cloakroom doors which interlocked with each other forming the screen.
The front dining table, good for two people only and could convert to a single bed with bunk over it thus creating another two beds although these would be ideal for youngsters.
Plenty of storage place in over head cupboards and under the seating areas at both ends

Bought my first Areo XL in 1976 when they first came out at a hefty price of R7,500 new!
Bought my second one in 1984 after having replace the first one with a Wilk Emerald and which I traded in the first Areo XL for R10,000
The second Areo was already about 5 years old and paid R9,000. eventually sold it in 2012 still in tip top condition for R25,000 not bad for a 34 year old caravan but it was in excellent condition, ( replaced it with my final retirement caravan, a Fendt Bianco) Towed the Areo with :- BMW 5, 2lt, Nissan Skyline 3lt, Nissan Sani 3lt, Discovery 1 V8 and Discovery 2 TD5.
If your Areo XL is in good condition I believe you could get probably over R30,000 for it.
