When Colonel he went to UK Sandhurst for training and started the parabat unit in SADF.
I can remember him very well, die "kort gat"!
I'm surprised that his parachute would/could
even open with his weight including boots

Could have sworn this man was in charge just the way all behaved.
I stand for correction but then who was in charge, year 70-71? I
dare say at the time this man was in charge of the army Topic
for other discussion, fact is, some of us DP's were rounded -up one
day for some short range mission somewhere close !!! A five ton load
bearing vehicle arrived into which we were scurried, on a mission
impossible!!, our sargeant!!! , short right and chugging along a
short left and again right, only to find selves parked on a luscious lawn
in the gardens of a beautiful old house, Voortrekker Hoogte!! The damn
truck so bloody heavy, that it left 10 cm trenches in the lawn. Hardly
did we travel 500meters maybe more. We were on a mission!!!

"Kom manne" the sargeant instructed and into the house we went!!
There were paintings everywhere, pictures memorabilia and all sorts
of this person along the passages. What struck me most was this mimic
of a parabat hanging from the pressed tin ceiling. Opened chute, ropes
and kit maybe 2.5 too 3 meters high dangling from the pressed ceiling.

It took some physical awareness getting ones butt around this gesture!

What was very striking about this masonite cut-out parabat, fully kitted,
the face of the honorable one up above, Generaal Louw, spine chilling!!!

Now folks< I beg too remind this post not about household skinner, rather
only to mention that a dining room table was successfully displaced back at
the army college across the road.

It was good fun, glad for the experience

A friend of mine who was in RLI had a similar thing to say. . From about 1977 onwards, when the terrs stood and fought, nothing was easy. The good days of running and chasing were over…

Dis maklik!!

Can we now class them
a superior race over and above, by example, a common "bokkop" doing
duty at ground level!! Nee manne nee, oorlog 'n vieslike ding wat speel
    met man se sielkunde!!!
The physical attributes, to this life cannot be made more or less, however can be altered to suit!!
